A string of five robberies along the 1300 block of North Hudson Avenue prompted the Chicago Police Department to issue a business alert in its Near North district.

All of the robberies occurred during evening hours. In each incident, the victim was sitting in their car before being approached by two to three men who demanded their cell phones, computer tablets, cash and other property.

The suspects have then fled on foot, authorities say. They are described as African-American males between the ages of 15 and 20.

Police say the incidents occurred on Aug. 1, Aug. 2, Aug. 5 and twice on Aug. 9.

Authorities are warning drivers to keep their doors locked and windows secured at all times, and to avoid engaging in conversation with people in the roadway.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
