The renaming of Lake Shore Drive is official after a bitter battle this week in City Council. Thirty-three alderpeople voted to dub the iconic roadway Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

City Violence

Mayor Lori Lightfoot says violence is trending down, but the numbers don't add up as mass shootings continue to tear through the city. President Biden takes action, but will it help reduce the flow of guns? Meanwhile, the Chicago police department is losing officers.

Chauvin Sentence

Former Minneapolis Police officer, Derek Chauvin, is sentenced to 22.5 years for the murder of George Floyd.

Tornadoes Touch Down

And, three tornadoes rip through the western suburbs, destroying and damaging hundreds of homes. The EF3 tornado tore through Naperville, Woodridge, Darien and Burr Ridge. The National Weather Service is still investigating the storm series to determine if there was a fourth twister.
