An expected snow-making weather system took a swing south, downgrading anticipated accumulation in the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.
The latest forecast shows the highest snow totals will be tallied south of 1-80, where near-blizzard conditions could still develop. But only 2 to 4 inches of snow are now predicted across much of the Chicago region. The timing of the snow is still likely to make for a messy evening commute.
Far north suburbs and the Rockford area will get shut out again, with less than an inch of snow forecast.
