4 Killed in Weekend Shootings Across Chicago: Police

Two men killed in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood Sunday were among four people fatally shot over the weekend across Chicago.

According to Chicago Police Department data, 18 people were shot in 14 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Among those killed were two men, ages 42 and 33, who were shot just before midnight Sunday in the 7000 block of King Drive. Police said the 42-year-old man was struck multiple times and died on scene. The 33-year-old was also shot multiple times and attempted to drive himself to a local hospital, but crashed into another vehicle in the 5500 block of South Wentworth Avenue and was later pronounced dead. Two people in that second vehicle also suffered minor injuries.

A 40-year-old man was fatally shot just after 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of North St. Louis Avenue. He was standing outside when an unknown man exited an SUV and began shooting, striking the victim multiple times. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.

Less than 30 minutes later, a 33-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest in the 1000 block of North Central Avenue. He was hospitalized in critical condition and later died. According to police, witnesses identified a man they believe fired shots at the victim.
