Twelve people were shot in 11 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, the Chicago Police Department said.

That included a 20-year-old man killed early Sunday as he was driving in the 2200 block of South Sawyer Avenue. He was driving southbound when someone opened fire into his vehicle, striking him once in the body. He was pronounced dead on scene, and responding officers were met by an “unruly group of individuals.” One person threw an object that struck an officer in the head, resulting in him being hospitalized in good condition.

A 32-year-old man was also fatally shot just before 6 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of West Madison Street. He was found with a gunshot wound to his chest and pronounced dead on scene.
