Two 13-year-olds are facing felony charges after they allegedly robbed a man in Chatham late last month.

The two teen boys were charged Thursday with felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking and robbery of a victim 60 years or older. They were each arrested Wednesday by members of the Chicago Police Department’s Vehicular Hijacking Task Force just blocks from where the robbery allegedly occurred.

The names of the boys have not been released because they are juveniles.

According to police, they were identified as the people who robbed a 60-year-old man on April 26 and took his vehicle by force from the 8500 block of South Calumet Avenue.

According to CPD data, the number of vehicular hijackings reported through the end of April was down more than 25% compared to the same time last year. The department said its officers have made 80 arrests for vehicular hijacking year-to-date, and of those arrested, 69% have been juveniles.
