Catch live performances on four stages (including two indoors) at the annual Square Roots Festival. More than 40 craft beer selections will be on tap from local favorites like Dovetail Brewery, Begyle Brewing and Northman Cider. A Kid Zone features music and hands-on activities for the little ones.

2. Cheer

DJ Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal) and the Dropkick Murphys are set to perform at the 2023 Major League Rugby Championship Final, hosted by the Windy City’s own Chicago Hounds. A full day of rugby-centered activities includes the Dawg Town Block Party with food, music and entertainment. And don’t worry if you don’t know anything about the sport. There’ll be rugby 101 sessions.

3. Gaze

Art on the Mart continues its summer season with “The Big Bang: Movement Theory + the Black Dancing Body,” a new projection featuring fresh choreography from the Chicago Black Dance Legacy Project. Told in three parts, the work juxtaposes genres, including ballet, modern, tap and traditional African dance.

Details: Projection begins at 9 p.m. nightly through Sept. 13. Best viewed on the Chicago Riverwalk between Wells and Lake streets. Free / MAP

4. Hunt

The Andersonville Vintage Market is back for the third year with a treasure trove of antiques, home decor, clothing and jewelry from more than 30 vendors. There’ll be live music, and pets are welcome.

Details: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday on Catalpa Avenue between Clark Street and Ashland Avenue. $5 suggested donation / MAP

5. Twirl

For the past month, Guggenheim fellow Nejla Yatkin surprised Chicago parkgoers with movement workshops and pop-up dance performances. It all culminates this weekend with a Firebird Parade; guests are invited to wear colorful costumes and join in with bird-inspired movements.
