Sample Latin American food from more than 20 food vendors the Tacos y Tamales Festival in Pilsen. The three-day event brings art installations, a beer garden and live music; expect mariachi bands, Latin pop rock and a tribute to Selena.

2. Create

Chicago-based artist and educator Elena Diadenko is a Ukraine native who uses colorful artwork to raise awareness about the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Money raised at her Ukrainian Folk Glass Painting Workshop will be put toward animal rescue and medical aid for soldiers in Ukraine.

3. Engage

July is Disability Pride Month. The inaugural DisFest celebrates artists and performers with disabilities with a day of programming that includes short films, classes, workshops, art displays, music and dance performances.

4. Imagine

Explore the Museum of Science and Industry after hours at Nightlife of Pompeii. The 21+ event features ancient games, wine tutorials and language lessons.

5. Nosh

Amateur bakers compete this weekend at Chicago’s Best Baker Contest. Registration for bakers is closed, but there’s still time to sign up for a tasting pass to sample tasty treats after they’ve been judged in one of seven categories: bread, cake, cookies, gluten-free, international, pastry and pie. Money raised from tasting passes supports Cornerstone Community Outreach, a nonprofit shelter.
