Former President Donald Trump pleads not guilty to conspiring to overthrow an American presidential election as he continues to call it a political witch hunt. He’s asserting that his election lies are covered under free speech.

Hundreds of migrants were moved from Chicago police stations this week, but Mayor Brandon Johnson denies it was because of Lollapalooza. Public safety at Lollapalooza is a concern, but hopes are high for an economic bump.

Johnson jumps on a reporter’s use of the phrase “mob action” in describing dozens of teens ransacking a convenience store. Meanwhile, abuse charges from 1994 and 2006 emerge against the mayor’s interim police superintendent, but the mayor backs his top man.

More hazing lawsuits filed against Northwestern University alleging racist and sexual abuse. The university has hired former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch to conduct a review.

In sports, the Cubs have a record scoring week against the division-leading Reds. The White Sox wave the white flag to this season, selling off players and losing Liam Hendriks to Tommy John surgery. The Bears work out with pads at training camp as the mayor tries to convince Bears President Kevin Warren to stay in the city.
