Pilsen residents can find a dancefloor in their backyard this weekend.
The My House Music Festival is hosting house DJs for its eighth year.
And for the festival’s founder, Fernando Nieto, it’s meaningful to have the festival in the neighborhood.
“I grew up on the South Side, and I have a lot of pride throwing quality events on the South Side of Chicago,” Nieto said.
It’s also vital to highlight local acts, he said. When the festival started, he said there weren’t many festivals specifically for local DJs.
“It’s important to continue to not only book big names, yes, but give younger artists the opportunity to shine and get their name out there with other big names,” Nieto said.
The festival takes place at Harrison Park this Saturday and Sunday. You can find more details on the My House Music Festival website.
