A Cook County judge rules former President Donald Trump is ineligible to run in the Illinois primary. Judge Tracie Porter bases her ruling on the 14th Amendment and Trump’s role in the Jan. 6 insurrection — but the ruling is on hold pending appeal.

A sweeping investigation reveals Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration ignored multiple warnings about unsanitary conditions at the Pilsen migrant shelter where 5-year-old Jean Carlos Martinez Rivero became ill. Martinez Rivero later died as a result of multiple infectious diseases.
