3 Killed by Gunfire Over Holiday Weekend Across Chicago: Police

A 17-year-old boy was among three people killed by gunfire over the three-day holiday weekend across Chicago.

According to Chicago Police Department data, 29 people were shot in 24 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Monday.

Those victims included a 17-year-old boy who was found shot in a bank parking lot in the 500 block of West Roosevelt Road just after 8 p.m. Saturday. Officers who were in that area heard gunfire and responded to the scene, located two victims and attempted life-saving measures. The 17-year-old was shot in the neck and chest, and died of his wounds. A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg.

A 22-year-old man as he sat in a vehicle in the 2500 South Trumbull Avenue just before midnight Saturday night. He was stopped at a stop sign when occupants inside a two-door white sedan opened fire. The victim was struck in the head and killed, and a 17-year-old boy was struck in the leg. He was hospitalized in fair condition.

A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the 3200 block of West 26th Street at around 1:15 p.m. He was on the sidewalk in that area when he was shot multiple times by an unknown offender.

According to police, a 28-year-old man who’d been shot multiple times also died after he was dropped off at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park at around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police said he’d been shot in the 300 block of North Laramie, but details of the incident are not currently known.
