Chicago Police Department data shows 11 people were shot in nine separate shootings over the weekend across the city, but none of them fatally,  between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

The last time the city went a weekend without a shooting death was Sept. 16-17, 2023. However, a person shot that weekend later died from those injuries.

Two of the weekend shootings involved mutliple victims, one of whom was critically wounded.

Early Saturday morning, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a 22-year-old man and 36-year-old woman were shot on the sidewalk in the 3100 block of West Roosevelt Road when the occupant of a red mini-van opened fire. Both victims were taken to Mt. Sinai hospital where the man was listed in critical condition, while the woman was reported in fair condition.

Saturday afternoon, shortly after noon, five people were involved in a crash when their car flipped and struck two parked vehicles as they attempted to flee from an unknown male shooting in their direction in the 7900 block of South Wood Street.

Two people in the car — a 40-year-old man and 37-year-old woman — sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital in fair and good condition, respectively. Three other passengers in the car — two women and a newborn — weren’t shot but were taken to local hospitals for observation.
