The Inspector General was going through his recommendations to Mayor Emmanuel to raise money for the City of Chicago deficit. Among these were starting a City of Chicago income tax; charging a toll to drive on Lake Shore Drive; and other recommendations.

My Social Security monthly check/dollars which are the same I got 3 years ago, can't keep up with the huge increases in food prices and other sundry items I need on a regular basis. The money from the S.S. check only goes for about 3 weeks. Many of us are really struggling.

I / We know that all cities are hurting financially because of loss of real estate taxes due to foreclosures on homes as well as loss of retail tax revenue from less spending by consumers. But to ask more from those at the bottom of the income ladder ($20,000 and less annually), is unfair.
