After a lengthy political career, former Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has landed a high-profile, private sector gig.
Madigan will now be a partner in the litigation practice at Kirkland & Ellis, the country’s largest law firm, where she’ll handle high-level litigation, government and internal investigations and crisis management work.
Madigan didn’t seek re-election last year after four terms as the state’s attorney general.
Meantime, city zoning officials have taken a step that could allow some of the development frenzy in the Fulton Market District to push even further into the Near West Side.
Aldermen gave their initial approval to open up the eastern portion of the Kinzie Industrial Corridor to new commercial uses and developments. The area has historically been reserved for industrial businesses but is poised to accept offices, retailers and restaurants, among other uses.
That could give developers new opportunities to cash in on the skyrocketing property values in Fulton Market.
And finally, the Chicago Fire are a step closer to moving their games back to Soldier Field.
The Chicago Park District Board voted Wednesday to let its leadership finalize details of a three-year lease with the MLS franchise to play its home games at the lakefront stadium beginning next season.
