Federal aviation regulators won’t clear Boeing’s troubled 737 Max airplanes for flight until sometime in 2020. That’s according to an interview that Federal Aviation Administration chief Steve Dickson gave to CNBC on Wednesday.
Dickson’s comments squash any hope that the Chicago-based aerospace giant had of getting the planes recertified before the end of the year.
The 737 Max has been grounded since two fatal crashes, and the return date of the fuel-efficient planes has repeatedly slipped.
In other Chicago-area business news:
A grocery giant and Deerfield-based drugstore operator Walgreens are deepening a partnership they started last year, according to Bloomberg.
Kroger, which is the parent of the Mariano’s grocery chain, is forming a joint purchasing organization with Walgreens to lower their costs for grocery, health and beauty items.
Kroger says the venture, which started in October 2018 as a pilot program, could eventually expand to include other retailers.
And finally, a major cannabis company is looking to turn the onetime home of a drag club into a marijuana emporium.
Cresco Labs is among the first marijuana companies seeking approval for new retail shops under the city’s new zoning laws for recreational marijuana. The company has set its sights on the former home of the Baton Show Lounge at 436 N. Clark St.
Meanwhile, Grassroots, another large cannabis company, is seeking approval for a store at 612 N. Wells St., formerly home to Carson’s Ribs. City approvals for the sites are expected to take months.
