A sixth person has tested positive for the coronavirus in Illinois, officials announced Friday evening. The patient, a woman in her 50s who works as a special education classroom assistant at Vaughn Occupational High School on the city’s Northwest Side, is hospitalized in stable condition, according to the Chicago Department of Public Health. Chicago Public Schools CEO Janice Jackson said classes at the school are canceled next week, and Lightfoot said the risk to the general public remains low. Following a recommendation by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, Chicago Police interim Superintendent Charlie Beck stripped the police powers of two officers involved in a shooting last month at the CTA Grand Red Line station.
