Stories about the coronavirus pandemic have recently taken a back seat to issues of police brutality and the protests that have swept the country, including in Chicago, as people react to the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

But not long ago, the end of Illinois’ stay-at-home order was in the spotlight, along with anticipation that Chicago would open up soon as well.

Wednesday marks that day for Chicago, which has officially moved into the “cautiously reopening” phase of its plan to loosen restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19.
