WGN-TV's beloved chief meteorologist, retiring at the end of the month, has now been immortalized in the most fitting way, with "Skilling It," which was among the contest's six winners announced Monday.

The other five top vote-getters are:

— CTRL-SALT-DELETE

— Casimir Plowaski

— Ernie Snowbanks

— Mies van der Snow

— Bad, Bad Leroy Plow

Nearly 10,000 votes were cast during the contest's final round.

“We are so appreciative of the many Chicagoans who submitted their creative and entertaining snowplow names, many of which reflect the Chicago pride we know so well,” Streets and San Commissioner Cole Stallard said.

The winning names will be installed on one snowplow in each of the city’s six snow districts, joining the named snowplow fleet announced in 2023.

It's been a relatively quiet season so far for Chicago's snowplow fleet, but as Skilling would be the first to warn, Chicago winters can turn on a dime. Why, we wouldn't be surprised to see Ernie Snowbanks called into action for the Cubs home opener.
