Head over to Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood, where local merchants will line up on North Clark Street Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  On Friday, there will be a free pop-up park and party from 4:00 pm-10:00 pm on Olive between Clark and Ashland; the party will include live music, artists, a “bike-in” movie, and more. Neighborhood restaurants will also be selling food and drinks throughout the weekend.

Fire Up a Cure

Swing by Saint Xavier University this Saturday and help support Illinois firefighters as they raise money to fight pediatric cancer. Firefighters from more than 60 fire departments will face off in various challenges, including tug-of-war, a truck pull, and obstacle course. This fundraiser begins at 11:00 am and includes face painting, obstacle courses, a photo-booth, and balloon artists for kids.  The event is $5 for kids, $10 for adults, and $20 for families.

DuPage County Fair

Visit the DuPage County Fair this weekend and see agricultural exhibits, horse shows, a rodeo, exotic animals and more. The fair is open 8:00 am-11:00 pm daily, and tickets cost $10 for adults, $4 for children (ages 3-12), and children under 3 are free.

Newberry Library Book Fair

Stop by the Newberry Library this weekend for the 30th annual used book fair.  Browse through thousands of books, most of which can be bought for less than $5. The sale features books in more than 70 different categories, and all proceeds will support the library. The fair is open 12:00 pm-8:00 pm on Friday, and 10:00 am-6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Wicker Park Fest

Listen to cutting edge music, enjoy food by local restaurants, and soak up the culture of Wicker Park at the annual Wicker Park Fest. The fest runs 12:00 pm-10:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday on Milwaukee Avenue from North Avenue to Paulina Street.  A $5 donation is suggested.
