Meet New WBEZ ‘Morning Shift’ Host Jenn White

WBEZ has a new host of its “Morning Shift” show – but she’s not new to the station.

Jenn White took over hosting duties earlier this month after former host Tony Sarabia moved to rural Iowa to be a goat farmer. His career at the station spanned nearly 30 years.

In a recent WBEZ conversation, White said she learned a lot from Sarabia during their three years of sharing the airwaves. “I look forward to taking the ‘Morning Shift’ into its next iteration by building on the strong foundation Tony is leaving for us,” White said.

“Morning Shift” is a public affairs show that airs weekdays from 9-10 a.m. on 91.5 FM, Chicago’s NPR station.

White was originally hired in 2016 to host the program’s roundtable discussions on Friday – an effort to ease Sarabia’s workload. Since then, she has hosted WBEZ’s acclaimed podcasts “Making Obama,” “Making Oprah” and the “16 Shots” podcast about the 2014 shooting of Laquan McDonald by former police Officer Jason Van Dyke.

White is the former local host of NPR’s “All Things Considered.” She started at NPR as a community outreach manager at the Michigan Public Radio station in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
