Clean-energy power giant Invenergy is expanding its headquarters after a two-year hiring spree boosting its downtown headcount.
The nation's largest privately held wind energy producer has expanded its offices at 1 S. Wacker Drive, in a deal that will soon make it the biggest tenant there.
Invenergy is owned and led by power industry veteran and Chicago entrepreneur Michael Polsky. The company has nearly 490 employees in Chicago now. That’s up from 360 at the beginning of last year.

The Lyric Opera of Chicago is set to take on one of the largest renovation projects in its history.
The historic theater will replace all of its seats and restructure the seating chart to enhance accessibility and visibility.
The project is made possible by an anonymous donation. Lyric representatives would not disclose the amount.
The organization says it’s taking pains to make the changes while preserving the building’s historic art deco architecture and acoustic capabilities.
And finally, ’tis the season for coffee competitors to roll out their holiday cups.
Crain’s sister publication Ad Age reports Starbucks on Wednesday revealed this winter’s four designs. The move isn’t as benign as it might seem: The coffee giant has taken considerable heat in the past for designs that to some consumers weren’t Christmas-y enough. The seasonal cups debut Thursday.
Not to be outdone, rival Dunkin’ Donuts has been serving beverages in ITS holiday cups for a few days already.
