For the first time in more than two months, Chicago Public Library branches are open to patrons, after shutting down in late March to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Visitors will have to navigate a new set of guidelines, though.

Everyone — patrons and employees alike — will be required to wear masks while inside the libraries. In addition, locations will have restricted capacity based on each building's square footage.

To further encourage social distancing, guided paths have been set up in the aisles and staff members have also spaced apart computers and furniture.

Time limits are in effect for computer use to ensure everyone has access to needed resources.

Branch hours vary. Library officials advise people to check online in advance of making a trip or to call their local branch.
