Meanwhile, lower COVID-19 infection rates lead Mayor Lori Lightfoot to relax restaurant rules this week.

The Illinois Democratic Party has chosen U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly as chair after Michael Madigan quit the post. But federal fundraising rules on congressmen could pose a problem. Former Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner gave $250,000 to Florida Gov. Rick DeSantis after his wealthy neighborhood got early access to COVID-19 vaccines. And more candidates line up to replace Secretary of State Jesse White.

Lightfoot and Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown announce sweeping changes to its police search warrant policy after officers wrongly raided Anjanette Young’s home and handcuffed the naked social worker, who told seven male police officers 43 times they were in the wrong home and begged them to let her get dressed. And Chicago Public Schools teachers and staff get vaccinated as a possible return to in-person learning for high-schoolers is floated.
