Celebrate spring with Hanami, or cherry blossom viewing, in Jackson Park. The South Side park is home to about 160 cherry blossom trees that bloom each spring. The afternoon event includes traditional Japanese dance performances and origami and haiku poetry booths.

Check out Brookfield Zoo during pre-park hours at the zoo’s Earth Day Run — A Run for the Planet. The 2.2 mile “fun run” is a non-competitive event geared to all ages.

3. Tap

4. Uncover

Photographer Patric McCoy took photos every day during much of the 1980s, documenting life in Chicago. His new exhibition, “Take My Picture,” is an evocative look at gay Black men in the city during that pivotal decade.

Libations abound this weekend with five chances to wet your whistle. The 7th Chicago Rum Festival (aka Midwest Rum Fest) features tastings and seminars. Mexico in a Bottle promises an afternoon of Mexican craft spirits, food, art and music. The West Loop Whiskey Festival includes giveaways, a photo contest and, of course, more than 20 varieties of whiskey. The Godfrey Wine Fest features more than a dozen vino varieties. And the West Loop Spirits, Cocktails and Wine Festival includes tastings, swag and snacks.
