Art is on display and for sale at two events. The Other Art Fair will host more than 100 artists. Connect with your favorites and shop thousands of original pieces — including paintings, sculptures, mixed media and more. Or visit the Mart’s One of a Kind Spring Show, where you’ll find goods from 300 artists, makers and designers. Shop everything from ceramics and home goods to paintings and fashion.

2. Muse
Get inspired at the Chicago Public Library’s 24th annual Poetry Fest, featuring poetry readings, workshops and panel discussions. Try your hand at a writing session, share your work at an open mic and hear from the Chicago Poet Laureate.

3. Gather
Learn about efforts to build a Bronzeville trail at the Celebrate Trails Day Community Block Party. Expect vendors, giveaways, food trucks and a live DJ. The Bronzeville Trail Taskforce is working to develop the Kenwood “L” embankment.

Celebrate International Bookstore Day with the Chicagoland Bookstore Crawl. You’ll find readings, contests, sales and giveaways at more than 40 indie bookshops. An initial $20 purchase will get you a passport to collect free stamps and stickers from the participating stores. Hit milestones to earn yearlong discounts.

5. Imagine
Catch the Joffrey Ballet’s “The Little Mermaid” before it closes this weekend. WTTW News theater critic Hedy Weiss called the show “a strange but stunningly performed take” on the classic tale.
