18-Year-Old Man Among 4 People Killed in Shootings Across Chicago Over Weekend: Police

An 18-year-old man who was fatally shot Sunday in Washington Park was one of four people killed by gunfire over the weekend across Chicago.

According to Chicago Police Department data, 28 people were shot in 19 separate shooting incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday. All four fatal shootings occurred Sunday.

Three teens and a 52-year-old man were shot just after 8 p.m. Sunday in the 5700 block of South Payne Drive. Police said the group was outside in Washington Park when an argument broke out between several women before an unknown man produced a firearm and opened fire. An 18-year-old man died after being struck in the thigh and buttocks.

A second 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were also shot and were each hospitalized in fair condition, while a 52-year-old was listed in critical condition.

A 32-year-old man died after he was found face down in the 700 block of South Leamington Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to his body just before 2 a.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 36-year-old man was killed after being shot in the chest at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of West 18th Street.

A 42-year-old man was found shot in the 100 block of West 109th Place with gunshot wounds to his arm and chest at around 11:45 a.m. Sunday. He later died of his injuries.
