Week in Review: Escalating Migrant Crisis; $130M Northwestern Lawsuit

Mayor Brandon Johnson met with Homeland Security to talk about the migrant crisis here and his trip to the southern U.S. border. A lawsuit is filed against housing migrants at city parks, schools and police stations as alderpeople push back against more being housed in their wards. The mayor is looking to alternatives to those tent shelter encampments in spite of a nearly $30 million contract with a controversial company.

A new report says Chicago reaped a $109 million windfall last summer with the NASCAR race, so it’ll be back in 2024 despite alderpeople denying they were consulted as the mayor alleges.
