A day after the department announced that a 23-year-old man had been charged in connection with at least 16 fake bomb threats, the Skokie Police Department said there was not a credible threat following reports of the students’ conversation.

“Thank you to our community partners who shared this information to assist with an expeditious investigation into this incident in light of recent events, including the current conflict in Israel,” the department said in a statement.

Skokie police said they spoke with the students involved as part of the investigation, but added no further information would be released at this time.

Police reiterated that there were no “known, credible threats” to Skokie or the Chicago area.

Skokie police on Wednesday announced criminal charges against Jacob Spiro, 23, who is accused of making at least 16 false bomb threats in recent weeks. Additionally, police departments in Morton Grove, Niles, Wilmette, Glenview and Northbrook had also received similar reports during that time.

None of those threats were found to be credible.
