The Art Institute of Chicago has announced it will reopen Feb. 11, joining the list of museums preparing to welcome back visitors now that coronavirus restrictions are being loosened.
Guests will be treated to an extension of the popular "Monet in Chicago" exhibit, which had been scheduled to close Jan. 18.
Advance ticket purchase will be required; sales go live on the Art Institute's website next week. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Monday, with the first hour of each day set aside for members only.
Chicago's cultural institutions closed their doors back in November during a surge in COVID-19 infections. For many, it was the second such shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With the easing of mitigations, the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium have also announced their imminent reopening plans.
The Museum of Science and Industry, the Adler Planetarium and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum are among the institutions that remain closed until further notice.
Both the Lincoln Park Zoo and Brookfield Zoo are also closed January and February.
