Charlie Kim

Candidate for US House - 14th District

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

I am running because our leaders have failed us. They are allowing our country to go deeper into debt, ignoring the issues facing their constituents, and not making the tough decisions that are required of our leaders.

I have experience working within the government to solve our nation's problems.

I have credibility, working in international relations and law.

I am the strongest candidate for Congress because of my background and I live the American dream.

How has your district been impacted by the migrant crisis and what do you think should be done?

We need to enforce the laws of our country. As a legal immigrant, I understand the difficulties faced by those seeking to enter our country, but we must force everyone to follow the laws. Our country, my district is being overrun by immigrants that we can't afford to take care of. Chicago is drowning in the high cost of the immigration crisis, and this is unsustainable. Congress and our government must do their job. We must enforce the laws on the books and follow the procedures for immigration.

What do you think immigration reform in Congress should look like?

Enforcing the laws on the books, requiring legal immigration. We can't reward people for violating our laws.

How important is bipartisanship to you and what issues have you worked on across the aisle or with people who don't uniformly share your beliefs?

Bipartisanship is extremely important, that's how our founding fathers designed our government to operate.

What action, if any, do you want to see next on abortion access after the Dobbs decision?

Every state must decide what is right for their citizens. This is now a state issue and not a federal issue.
