James T. “Jim” Marter

Candidate for US House - 14th District

Candidate Q&A

Why are you running?

I love America and our freedoms. We need to defend and preserve them for future generations. Much of what our government does stands in the way of a prosperous and free future.  In Congress, I will fight for your God-given rights and be relentless at cutting the size and scope of the federal government. With the right policies and unwavering commitment, we can unleash the economy, secure our nation, and advance the American Dream.

Who we send to Congress matters. With the right people representing us, we can again become the standard by which all nations are measured, in education, healthcare, security, innovation and quality of life. With your help, America can be the strongest, safest, and most respected nation the world. Let’s make America productive, prosperous, and free.

How has your district been impacted by the migrant crisis and what do you think should be done?

There are bus drops happening throughout the district, some near Train Stations to send them to Chicago. There are illegal immigrants out pan handling through the district.  People of the 14th District are rightly concerned about their safety and their children's safety as many are affiliated with cartels and part of the illegal drug trade and human trafficking.

Hundreds, if not thousands have shown up to speak out at Townships, Village and City board meetings, all have rejected the DEMOCRATS (JB et. el) request to take illegal immigrants for bundles of cash, which would not cover expenses for long at all.  Concern for Law enforcement costs, and safety, and overwhelming local food pantries and shelters which are already stretched because of the bad BIDEN economy.

Arrest and DEPORT all illegal immigrants, send back to their home countries, unless they have committed violent crimes (rape/murder/assault) or grand larceny, in which case they should be prosecuted and locked up.

What do you think immigration reform in Congress should look like?

I support a constitutional immigration process. 1. Build / Finish the wall 2. Enforce existing Immigration law. 3. No DACA and No Amnesty 4. End LBJ's Chain migration immigration. 5. End the practice of birthright citizenship for illegal aliens and foreign visitors. 6. Enforce the Border, deport illegal immigrant when detained. End catch-and-release. Require law enforcement to report 7. End sanctuary cities, States 8. Enforce the law against employers breaking it 9. Cap/reduce all Immigration.

2: Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Individuals seeking to become an American citizen who LOVE America and FREEDOM, who possess, drive, skill, and ability to prosper, on a limited number basis capped at levels that protect American citizens interest first. And those who are legitimate in eminent danger and meet the full legal requirements for refugee and Asylum status.

How important is bipartisanship to you and what issues have you worked on across the aisle or with people who don't uniformly share your beliefs?

I have zero concern for "bipartisanship".  What I care about is doing what is RIGHT for the AMERICAN people!   I work with people from all around the world daily, I visited them in their countries, and I work will with people of all backgrounds and all nations. That said, my sole concern is to follow the Constitution of the United States of America, and ensure the American people are put FIRST in everything we do in the people HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES!

What action, if any, do you want to see next on abortion access after the Dobbs decision?

I am PRO-LIFE. The Child in the mother’s womb is the most innocent and vulnerable LIFE and has an inalienable right to live.  The LIFE of MOTHER and CHILD should always be protected. Medically both LIVES should be sought to be saved in the event of medical issues with the mother.   LIFE and Liberty those Unalienable rights endowed to ALL by our Creator, especially the most precious innocent life, the child in the mother’s womb should always be protected. Love them both, mother and child!

Mother Teresa said “America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against me. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships … It has portrayed the greatest of gifts – a child – as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience” - Saint Teresa of Calcutta
